Each year comes with fresh and exciting opportunities for growth and success. But for business owners and HR managers, the end of the year and the start of a new one, can be a busy, stressful, and oftentimes, overwhelming time.

As always, we at Brand’s Paycheck have compiled the information you need to make the year-end process as smooth as possible. This guide includes the important dates and information you need to ensure that this year ends, and the new one begins, on a successful note.

Important upcoming dates:

  • December 20, 2019: If your company is required to do ACA reporting, provide us with the updated insurance low-cost for year 2019 to be reflected in the 2019 ACA reports.
  • December 26, 2019: Finalize the review and submit all employee corrections.
  • December 27, 2019: Last day to submit payrolls with over 100K federal tax liabilities.
  • December 31, 2019: Finalize and submit all correction payrolls.
  • January 2, 2020: Year will be closed and we will begin processing the year-end reports.
  • January 6, 2020:  All 1099 Entries should be submitted.
  • January 15, 2020: Year-end reports will be sent out by this date.
  • January 31, 2020: Distribute W2’s/1099’s to employees.
  • If applicable, file 940, 944, 943 Federal W-2, Federal 1099, and most state W-2‘s. Note: If you are on tax service or opted in for W-2/1099 filings we file them for you before the due date.
  • Employers subject to ACA reporting must distribute the 1095-C statements to their employees by this date.
  • February 20, 2020: We will have filed the ACA reports with the IRS for all clients that are signed up with our ACA service.
  • February 28, 2020: Employers subject to ACA reporting, who are filing the ACA 1094-C & 1095- C returns via paper, must file the returns with the IRS by this date.
  • March 31, 2020: Employers subject to ACA reporting, who are filing the ACA 1094-C & 1095-C returns electronically, must file it with the IRS by this date.
